Hi! My name is Katie Sharp and I started Better Off Threads in 2023 with the goal of providing clothing repair, basic alterations, sewing education, and creative sewing services.

My grandmother taught me to sew as a child, and her mother taught her. I believe that sewing is an important skill to have and I enjoy passing these skills on to others.

Originally from a post-manufacturing city in the Midwest, I have always been compelled to see potential in found or discarded materials. An avid thrifter and vintage enthusiast, I am passionate about upcycling and mending as sustainable solutions to clothing waste and over consumption. Make do and mend!

When I’m not sewing, you can find me chasing my three-year-old or working on various DIY renovation projects in my old home with my husband.
